On Sunday February 6th walkers along the River Mole at Pixham smelt a rank stench. The reason? Sewage was being pumped out of the Thames Water sewage outlet at a huge rate. It went on for hours.
Thames Water is allowed to release around 10million litres of treated sewage per day into the Mole, but this looked and smelt noxious. Three workmen and a tanker eventually appeared and set to work though ‘normal’ flow did not resume for hours.
Pixham Residents’ Association contacted Thames Water whose representative told them: “I don’t believe this is coming from the sewage treatment works.” This was despite the photo of the outlet which the Association provided: see below.
TW have promised to investigate the incident. We hope they will answer all the specific questions that the Association asked them.
